Nigel Luján Jones is a Mexican-American photographer who is interested in photographing automation, the manufacture of objects, and community. Nigel recently moved to Brooklyn, NY after studying in chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley. His work is highly influenced by analog darkroom processes, as he utilizes self-made chemical solutions/processes in his prints.
Recent in progress projects include a documentary series of his family racing in desert Grand Prix throughout California and Nevada; a look at the “fourth” industrial revolution in autonomous vehicles and manufacturing in Michigan, California, and Europe; recent portrait studies; and a fledging project in the color darkroom, where he uses different color darkroom development processes to created stylized photograms which highlight the materials used to create objects in the images.
